Toyota Innova is available in both petrol and diesel variants, but there are more diesel variants of the car than the petrol ones. The petrol variant is a 1TR FE, 2.0 L, 4 cylinder petrol engine that has Electronic Fuel Injection technology. The diesel variant of the car is a 2.5 L, 2KD FTV diesel engine with intercoolers and turbochargers. The diesel variant has a displacement of 2494 cc, whereas the petrol variant comes with a displacement of 1998 cc. The petrol variant is capable of providing around 8.3 kmpl of mileage in the city and around 12 kmpl on the highways. The diesel variant is capable of providing around 10 kmpl within city limits and around 13 kmpl on the highway. The diesel variant can produce a maximum power of 102 PS at 3600 rpm and deliver a maximum torque of 200 Nm at 1400-3400 rpm. The petrol variant can provide 132 PS of maximum power at 5600rpm with 181 Nm of maximum torque at 4000rpm.

Exteriors

The Exteriors of the car have been upgraded as of 2012 and the new Innova looks more stylish for sure. Many changes have been done on the exteriors. The headlamps of the car are more angular, the signal lamps are slightly protruding, the fog lamps are oval, the stylish grille has been improved on, the bonnet has been changed and the windshield size has been slightly increased. The front grille of the car comes with three chrome plated slats now. The side profile of the car has a rather curvy design. The tail lights have also been improved upon. The growing demand for SUVs has spurred Volkswagen to introduce a new compact SUV in India. The introduction of the Volkswagen Taigun reveals that the company is bent on taking on Ford, Mahindra and Renault in this segment. Based on the Up platform, Volkswagen Taigun comes with a price tag of Rs. 10 lakh and brings affordability and comfortable ride for the customer.

Engine and performance

The concept model of the Taigun is powered by 1.0litre TSI engine with 110 bhp. The three cylinder engine has been upgraded by adding direct fuel injection and turbocharging technology. The engine delivers a peak torque of 175 Nm at a low 1500 rpm. The model in India may be fitted with a1.2 litre engine and the diesel variant too is expected to be powered by 1.2 litre power-train that produces 75 bhp. The engine is expected to be mated to a 6-speed manual or the optional DSG automatic transmission. The 985 kg Taigun claims a fuel efficiency of 22 kmpl and an impressive top speed of 185 kmph. The SUV touches the 100 kmph mark in 9.2 seconds.

Exteriors

In terms of styling, the Taigan has a nicer stance than the Tiguan and Touareg. Blessed with Volkswagen family lineage, the Taigan sports side panels and roof-rails. The car is 3859 mm long, 1778 mm wide and 1570 mm tall. Its edgy design with large grille and its high road clearance give it a tremendous road presence. The Rexton has a 2.7 liter common rail diesel engine. This is a strong and muscular engine which can generate around 162 bhp of power and 402 Nm of torque thanks to the 5- cylinders. The turbocharged diesel motor is connected to a five geared automatic gearbox. If one is not comfortable with that option, they could go for the five speed manual gearbox. In fact, one can also get a two wheel drive or a four wheel drive option in the SUV. The car’s ground clearance and amazing traction provide for a comfortable ride, no matter where one is. The diesel engine of the car is 2696 cc and it can generate a maximum of 165 BHP at 4000 rpm. It can produce a crest torque of 34.6 gm at 3250 rpm.

There are a lot of features in the car as well. But the fact still remains that the car is slightly on the more expensive range, as a result of which many people looking for a medium priced SUV will lose interest in the same. The Aria is a 7 seater multi- utility vehicle.

Engine & Performance

The car comes with a 2179 cc, 4- cylinder diesel engine. The car is powerful enough to generate 140 PS at 4000 rpm. The car can generate a torque of 320 Nm at 1700 rpm as well. The engine is mated with a 5 speed manual gearbox.

Exteriors

The car can certainly provide one with all the luxury that they want. The car is really sophisticated looking. The car has received a curvaceous mould, which gives the car really a sophisticated look and a really aerodynamic design as well. The car is 4780mm long and 1895 mm. The car has a high ground clearance of 200 mm as well, which makes it well suited for the Indian roads and also a wide range of off- road driving. Tata Sumo Extreme: price, variants and specifications

The Tata Sumo Extreme is fitted with 2.0 liter CR4 engine which has a displacement of 2956 cc. It generates 85 bhp of power and 250 Nm of torque. It is mated to a five speed manual transmission. The 4X4 drive can be selected with a knob as you move. The car has a fuel tank capacity of 65 liters. The car is fitted with a clutch of 260 mm dia High performance. Disc brakes are provided in the front while drum brakes are present in the rear. The car is fitted with a double wishbone with coil springs suspension in the front while there is parabolic left rear suspension. This two has been combined to deliver a simple yet sturdy driving experience.

Exterior

The external appearance of the Tata Sumo Extreme leaves no one in any doubt that this vehicle is meant to completely dominate the road. While the front fascia has not been changed to any remarkable degree, the four roof mounted lamps attract the eyes of the viewers at first glance. The all round body cladding not only increases the protection but gives the car the appearance of a true off road vehicle. The bright orange color combined with black bumpers and the blacked out pillars and tinted windows contribute towards the aggressive look of the car. Another attention grabbing feature of this car is the new alloy wheels which come with all terrain tubeless tyres with an aggressive tread pattern. The fifth wheel is mounted on the back and adds to the aggressive look of the rear of the car. LED daytime running lights complete the external package.

Interior

The bright orange and black color scheme on the body of the car is continued with red and black upholstery in the interior. This is a seven seater car and there is ample space inside. Storage space is provided in various nooks and crannies in the car.

Mahindra S 101, expected to be launched in early 2015, would be Mahindra’s first compact utility vehicle in India. Built on a platform similar to that of the XUV500, the new compact SUV is rumoured to be priced as low as Rs. 5 lakh. In India, the S101 is positioned to compete against the likes of the popular Renault Duster and the Ford Ecosport and more importantly it would be the most affordable SUV in the country.

Engine and Performance

The upcoming S101 comes in both petrol and diesel variants. The petrol version is likely to be powered by a 1.2 litre engine while the diesel might feature the 1.5 litre engine that powers the Quanto. Power would be distributed to the wheels through a 6 speed manual transmission; though the top end models are likely to get automatic transmission. The diesel engine is expected to generate a maximum power of around 100 PS and torque of 200 Nm. The highly advanced Front Wheel Drive System is expected to be used in the SUV. Exterior

The SUV is likely retain the stylish features of XUV500. However, with its length under 4meters, it looks compact and seems to have the dimensions of a hatchback. The car features a high ground clearance of 200 mm, which enables it to tackle tough terrains. The rear and front suspension is strong to provide quality ride. Interior

The Mahindra S101expected to be a 6-7 seater is spacious enough and the front row provides a bench seat for two along with the driver’s seat. The back row provides ample space for luggage as well. The sporty roof line that slopes downwards at the rear does not mean compromised headroom for the second row. The front row too provides enough headroom. Besides, Mahindra is expected to bring in some of the infotainment features of the XUV.
