Mahindra S101

New Up Coming  Model    Mahindra S101 •
Mahindra S 101, expected to be launched in early 2015, would be Mahindra’s first compact utility vehicle in India. Built on a platform similar to that of the XUV500, the new compact SUV is rumoured to be priced as low as Rs. 5 lakh. In India, the S101 is positioned to compete against the likes of the popular Renault Duster and the Ford Ecosport and more importantly it would be the most affordable SUV in the country.
Engine and Performance
The upcoming S101 comes in both petrol and diesel variants. The petrol version is likely to be powered by a 1.2 litre engine while the diesel might feature the 1.5 litre engine that powers the Quanto. Power would be distributed to the wheels through a 6 speed manual transmission; though the top end models are likely to get automatic transmission. The diesel engine is expected to generate a maximum power of around 100 PS and torque of 200 Nm. The highly advanced Front Wheel Drive System is expected to be used in the SUV. Experts believe that the Mahindra S101 would possibly deliver a mileage around 20 kmpl
Exterior
The SUV is likely retain the stylish features of XUV500. However, with its length under 4meters, it looks compact and seems to have the dimensions of a hatchback. It also is expected to sport an aggressive look and an eye-catching design. The refreshed front looks simpler than that of the XUV. The car features a high ground clearance of 200 mm, which enables it to tackle tough terrains. The rear and front suspension is strong to provide quality ride. A spare wheel is attached to the rear door of the vehicle. Projector headlights, 15-16 alloy wheels and rain sensing wipers are among other exterior features.
Interior
The Mahindra S101expected to be a 6-7 seater is spacious enough and the front row provides a bench seat for two along with the driver’s seat. The back row provides ample space for luggage as well. The sporty roof line that slopes downwards at the rear does not mean compromised headroom for the second row. The front row too provides enough headroom. Besides, Mahindra is expected to bring in some of the infotainment features of the XUV. A less expensive version of the XUV’s audio visual navigation system is expected to give it an edge over the rivals. Steering mounted audio controls and trip computer are also expected.
Feature and specifications
The safety features include dual air bags, ABS, ESP, Parking sensor and fog lamps. The SUV is also equipped with several other features such as Power steering with tilt telescopic view, automatic climatic control, power windows for all doors, Keyless entry and power-packed driver seat. Blue-tooth connectivity and touch screen music system enhance the quality of infotainment.

All in all, Mahindra S101 is expected to conquer the Indian roads with affordable price and compact design.
